Description: Zhu Rong is the God of Fire in Chinese mythology and with rosettes displaying intense fiery colours of red and yellow, this is a well suited name for this beautiful cultivar.
Throughout summer is when these beautiful fiery colours are the most vibrant, showing deep colours of red on the outer older leaves, transitioning to a flaming yellow towards the centre of the rosette. Its these stunning summer colours of red and yellow which give this beauty the deserving name of 'Zhu Rong' (God of Fire).
During winter the colours will change considerably, with the deep reds lightening to a lovely pale pink and the yellow tones mellowing to a soft white or cream. The inner green section of the leaves also become more prominent at this time of year.
Although beautiful in all seasons, summer is when this one is at its best!
*The colours in the photos you are seeing here are the winter colours.
Plant Care: Easy to care and look after. Plants will form a lovely clump of variegated rosettes, growing to around 40cm tall. Grow in a good bright location to bring out the best colours.
Origins: We believe this to be a variegated form of Aeonium 'Zwartkin' which is also known here in Australia as Aeonium 'Short Black'.
Comments: 'Zhu Rong' appears to be the original name of this cultivar. We believe this is the same as what is also sold as 'God of Fire' and 'Shurong'.
