(Aeonium arboreum x Aeonium spathulatum)
Description: This Aeonium is truly spectacular! This hybrid undergoes a dramatic transformation from being lush and green during winter, to then loosing most of its leaves, being reduced to small balls shaped heads during the summer dormancy. Plants will grow to around 70cm high and develop splashes of purple on the closed rosettes during summer.
Plant Care: Easy to grow and care for. Plant tend to fully shut down over the summer so avoid any unnecessary watering. Grows well and looks fantastic when grown in a large bonsai pot.
Origins: A hybrid between Aeonium arboreum x Aeonium spathulatum
Comments: There are two natural occurring variants of this hybrid from the Canary Islands, one from the island La Gomera and the other from Tenerife. They are slightly different depending on the variety of Aeonium arboreum involved in the cross. I don't believe this particular hybrid is either of those two forms. Both A. arboreum and A. spathulatum are commonly grow garden plants and I suspect this particular form is a natural occurring cross which has developed within a garden situation or within a personal collection.
