Description: Aeonium leucoblepharum is a standout species of immense beauty and is one of our all time favorites! Plants are a stunning pastel green colour, with contrasting pink outer leaves and maroon coloured stripes down the leaf centres. Plants are generally small growing with a stocky habit growing to around 60cm in height. Plants can be slow growing initially, but branch easily and will form a lovely compact shape over time. This is a unique looking Aeonium and a must have for any succulent collector!
Plant Care: Easy to grow and look after. Grow in full sun to bring out the best colours and markings and we highly recommend excellent drainage is provided for plants to grow their best. Plants are extremely tough and can survive on only a minimal amount of water. Probably best suited to growing in a nice pot rather than in the ground, unless a suitable garden situation can be found such as a rock wall or free draining rockery.
Origins & Distribution: East Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Somalia) & Yemen. Aeonium leucoblepharum is one of the few species to be found naturally growing outside the Canary Islands archipelago. *This is a form from Yemen.
Comments: There appears to be three or four distinct forms of A. leucoblepharum dependent on the country and location found. Like a few other Aeonium species, A. leucoblepharum is probable in need of further research and study which may see it become revised in the future.
